Recognizing an opportunity to help unemployed and underemployed adults obtain job skills that could lead to gainful employment in the foodservice industry and the benefit of providing prepared meals to member agencies, the Greater Chicago Food Depository in 1998 founded Chicago's Community Kitchens. This innovative, 12-week training program prepares students for a productive career while providing them with a solid foundation in food preparation. It also helsp support the feeding programs of Food Depository member agencies by supplying prepared meals to agency clients.
