The Committee learned that the "Citizenship Security Flag System" referred in past annual reports - effectively a mechanism which allowed the Service to alert the Department of Citizenship and Immigration in advance about certain individuals - is no longer in operation. The program provided Citizenship and Immigration Canada with the names and biographical data of permanent residents about whom the Service had identified security concerns.

Le Comité a appris l'abolition du «Système d'avertissement de la citoyenneté», dont il avait fait mention dans des rapports annuels antérieurs et qui permettait au Service d'alerter le ministère de la Citoyenneté et de l'Immigration au sujet de certains individus. Grâce à ce système, le SCRS fournissait à ce ministère les noms et données biographiques des résidents permanents à l'égard desquels il avait relevé des problèmes de sécurité.
