The City of Victoria Commonwealth Games Society was incorporated 11 May 1987. The name was changed by special resolution on 13 December 1988 to the Victoria Commonwealth Games Society (VCGS). Before incorporation the society was known informally as the Victoria Committee to Host the 1994 Commonwealth Games and the Greater Victoria 1994 Commonwealth Games Association. The society was dissolved in 1996.
