The closed float trap is one of the oldest type of steam traps on the market, but it is still in widespread use. The opening and closing of the valve is caused by changes of the condensate level within the trap shell. When the trap is empty, the weight of the float closes the valve. As condensate enters the trap, the float rises and opens the valve, allowing condensate to be discharged. The float is designed to provide sufficient force to overcome the differential pressure across the valve. The internal float and valve configuration is such that the condensate level is always above the valve, thus creating a continuous water seal at its seat. 1, record 1, English, - closed%20float%20trap

Les purgeurs à flotteur fermé ont un fonctionnement analogue aux [purgeurs à flotteur ouvert]. Certains d'entre eux présentent l'avantage d'évacuer l'eau de condensation de façon continue et de régler automatiquement leur débit sur celui de la condensation. Le flotteur monte ou descend suivant le niveau de l'eau dans le pot du purgeur, et ouvre plus ou moins une valve réglant l'arrivée de la vapeur sur l'eau condensée.
