Certains systèmes de télévision couleur en circuit fermé transmettent de manière séparée les 3 composantes R,V,B soit directement, soit sous la forme YUC. La transmission en mode composante permet d'obtenir des images de meilleure qualité. C'est d'ailleurs le principe de transmission retenu pour la future télévision numérique haute définition (images à 1250 lignes / 50 Hz).
