Middle distillate fractions from Athabasca oil sand syncrudes were upgraded by high severity hydroprocessing in a continuous-flow reactor system using conventional pre-sulphided hydrotreating catalysts.

On a amélioré des distillats moyens obtenus à partir de pétroles bruts synthétiques provenant des sables bitumineux de l'Athabasca en les soumettant à un hydrotraitement dans des conditions sévères. Pour cela, on a utilisé un réacteur fonctionnant en continu et des catalyseurs d'hydrotraitement présulfurés classiques.
