En traduction spécialisée par ordinateur, langage dont la syntaxe est contrôlée par de très fortes restrictions concernant le nombre de mots, le sens des mots définis, le style de rédaction.

Dans un certain nombre d'industries où le système SYSTRAN est utilisé, les phrases des documents à traduire sont directement écrites avec de très fortes restrictions sur les formes d'expression : nombre de mots limité, sens de mots défini, contraintes sur le style. Les modes d'emploi de certains produits industriels et leur brochure d'entretien sont écrits dans un tel "langage limité". En France, le système TITUS applique aussi cette conception : les phrases sources sont rédigées dans un langage à syntaxe contrôlée.
