CROSS-LIGHTING [2 records]

Record 1 2003-11-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Lighting
  • Photography
  • Cinematography
DEF

Lighting from the side.

OBS

When the light shines from one side on to the subject, it illuminates that side brightly and leaves the other in complete darkness. The result is to make the subject appear to stand out in strong relief

Key term(s)

French

Domaine(s)
  • Éclairage
  • Photographie
  • Cinématographie
DEF

Éclairage effectué sur le côté.

CONT

Record 2 1981-11-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeroindustry
CONT

At low forward speed or at the hover, loss of combustion in a nozzle would be disastrous, involving not only loss of lift but also the introduction of a rolling moment that would be difficult to contain without great engineering penalties, using stabilization bleeds. Cross-lighting capability (the ability of the flame in one nozzle to initiate combustion in the other nozzle immediately after a flame-out) is therefore essential.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Constructions aéronautiques
CONT
