Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada's Circuit Rider Training Program provides First Nation operators with hands-on training on how to operate, service and maintain the water and wastewater systems in their community, so that Aboriginal communities have safe access to drinking water. It is a key component of the Government of Canada's First Nations Water and Wastewater Action Plan.

Le Programme de formation itinérante d'Affaires autochtones et du Nord Canada offre aux opérateurs des Premières Nations une formation pratique sur place concernant le fonctionnement et l'entretien des réseaux d'approvisionnement en eau et de traitement des eaux usées au sein de leurs collectivités, afin que celles-ci aient accès à de l'eau potable salubre. Il s'agit d'un élément clé du Plan d'action du gouvernement du Canada pour l'approvisionnement en eau potable et le traitement des eaux usées des Premières Nations.

Similarly, between 1986 and March 1995, the Canadian Rural Transition Program provided assistance to farm families who had ceased farming because of financial difficulties, to move to alternative employment and another way of life. 4,900 applications were approved since the inception of the program, but application levels fell to 224 in 1994-95, and the program was concluded on March 31, 1995.

Entre 1986 et mars 1995, le Programme canadien de réorientation des agriculteurs (PCRA) a aidé les familles agricoles forcées de quitter l'agriculture en raison de difficultés financières à se tourner vers un autre emploi ou un autre mode de vie. Quelque 4 900 demandes ont été approuvées depuis le début du programme, mais à peine 224 demandes ont été reçues en 1994-1995, si bien que le programme a été dissout le 31 mars 1995.
