DEAD TIME [6 records]

Record 1 2014-05-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Sea Operations (Military)
  • Ship's Aircraft (Military)
CONT

Whereas a carrier squadron could rotate aircraft to and from a contact area, a destroyer could not because the helicopter would have to return to the ship periodically to refuel. This and the transit time are referred to as "dead time" during which the target submarine is afforded the chance to escape.

Domaine(s)

  • Aéronefs embarqués (Militaire)
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radiological Physics (Theory and Application)
  • Scientific Instruments
CONT

… after the charge cloud caused by a particle interacting with the MCP [microchannel plate chevron pair] reaches the anode, there is a certain amount of electronic amplification and other processing to produce a signal suitable for acceptance/rejection as a “count.” The processing electronics require a finite time, known as a “dead time” to deal with this activity and are unable to register subsequent counts while they are doing so, hence the term, “dead time.”

DEF

Compteur paralysable [...] Compteur non paralysable [...]
