Record 1 2023-01-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Urban Development
  • Urban Housing
DEF

An urban planning and development strategy that increases the number of people or residential units within established urban areas.

OBS

Densification is achieved through planning practices that permit and encourage secondary suites, laneway housing, mixed-use buildings, infill housing and the redevelopment of urban areas requiring renewal.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Développement urbain
  • Habitation et logement (Urbanisme)
DEF

Record 2 1994-10-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Construction Materials
  • Industrial Ceramics
CONT

The densification of the green products is done ... by heat treatment at higher temperatures to bring about consolidation of the particles by chemical bonding.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Matériaux de construction
  • Céramiques industrielles
DEF

Record 3 1992-05-19

English

Subject field(s)
  • Waste Management
CONT

... the Regional Solid Waste Management plan [of British Columbia] ... includes recycling, resource recovery, transfer, incineration and sanitary landfilling. The Coquitlam [resource recovery] plant design involved mechanical conveying, screening, size reduction and densification assisted by magnetic separation, manual sorting and computerized process controls.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gestion des déchets
CONT

Record 4 1979-07-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Treatment of Wood
CONT

Wood densification. Wood waste can be dried and pressed into pellets and logs, thereby making transportation more economic than for loose waste, and also rendering the wood more suitable for combustion in certain furnaces. Densification itself is only one step in the process of recovery of energy from wood waste.

OBS

The process of making densified wood consists of filling or closing the voids in the cellular wood structure, accompanied by compression under heat. This process adds hardness, increased strength, greater durability, and dimensional stability.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Traitement des bois
DEF

Action de densifier (le bois).

DEF
