Lorsqu'ils quittent l'extracteur, les flocons dégraissés et enrichis en solvant sont transférés vers un " évaporateur-torréfacteur " ou DT (desolventiser-toaster) en abrégé. L'évaporateur soumet les flocons à une chaleur sèche dans un premier temps en vue d'éliminer la plus grande quantité possible d'hexane. Les flocons sont ensuite traités à la vapeur pour enlever les résidus finaux de solvant.
