Coma induced by diabetes.

If high blood sugar is not treated, severe hyperglycemia can occur, leading to ketoacidosis (diabetic coma) and death.

Si la carence insulinique se prolonge, l'organisme utilise ses graisses, mais le métabolisme incomplet aboutit à la formation de corps cétoniques. Ces corps cétoniques, métabolisables et donc utiles, vont cependant être nocifs par leur radical acide. Ceci aboutit à une acidocétose dont le terme ultime est le coma diabétique, coma acidosique.
