Pour produire et stocker de la voix sur un ordinateur, il y a trois approches possibles : - la synthèse : il s'agit de créer une bibliothèque de sons vocaux de base et d'assembler ces phonèmes pour former des mots et des phrases; - la numérisation : on enregistre des phrases complètes pour les numériser; - la synthèse numérique : des phonèmes sont enregistrés, numérisés puis assemblés en mots et en phrases.

OBS

De nos jours, la synthèse numérique est la méthode la plus employée pour synthétiser le son el celle-ci remplace dorénavant les procédés analogiques.
