Direct dyes: A class of dyestuffs that are applied directly to the substrate in a neutral or alkaline bath.

OBS

They produce full shades on cotton and linen without mordancing and can also be applied to rayon, silk, and wool.

Colorants solubles dans l'eau, qui permettent de teindre les fibres végétales en bain neutre en présence d'électrolytes (sels qui repoussent le colorant hors du bain vers la fibre) mais également les fibres animales.

OBS

[Les colorants directs] présentent une large gamme de coloris mais résistent mal au mouillé. On distingue les colorants teignant à froid, les colorants teignant à chaud, les colorants teignant à ébullition. La majorité de ces colorants ont une température optimale entre 60 et 80 ºC.
