Instrument embarqué sur les satellites Cluster utilisant les technologies les plus récentes pour émettre un faisceau d'électrons selon un trajet circulaire de plusieurs dizaines de kilomètres autour du satellite.

OBS

Un récepteur placé de l'autre côté du satellite est chargé de capter le faisceau des électrons en retour. Le point d'incidence est soumis à l'influence de l'intensité du champ électrique de la Terre. Si l'on mesure le déplacement de l'« écho » (faisceau retour), il est possible de déterminer l'intensité exacte du champ électrique.
