EuSalt exists to provide authoritative information to the public at large and other interested parties about salt and its many uses. A further function of this non-profit organisation is to promote the responsible use of salt and to represent the salt industry at the level of the European and international institutions. Founded in 1957 in Paris as the European Committee for the Study of Salt (ECSS), it was later the European Salt Producers' Association (ESPA). In January 2004 the association moved to Brussels and was renamed EuSalt. It represents 21 salt producers from across the European Community and associate members.
