... a relatively small avalanche released above treeline. This avalanche was probably typical of avalanches that release in the starting zone once or twice a year, but this year unusual conditions existed in the starting zone. This resulted in an exceptional avalanche that created a brand new avalanche path. What was so unusual was the thick slab present in the trees.
