Under the Export Distribution Centre (EDC) Program, proposed to begin on January 1, 2001, authorized export orientated businesses will be able to use a certificate to acquire or import most inventory and parts, or import a customer's goods for processing, without the payment of the GST/HST [goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax].
