Cuando la cápsula fibrosa está intacta, muchas prótesis rotas están contenidas dentro de la cápsula, es lo que llamamos ruptura intracapsular. La ruptura extracapsular se produce cuando se fuga silicona fuera de la cápsula, en los tejidos adyacentes.
