La Fédération des sociétés Saint-Jean-Baptiste de l'Ontario (FSSJBO) est fondée à Ottawa le 26 mars 1939. Elle obtient son incorporation en 1955. Ses objectifs sont nombreux : unifier l'Ontario français; constituer un organisme de cohésion et de coopération; encourager la fondation de sociétés locales et les aider dans leur fonctionnement, constituer une agence de renseignements, de collaboration et d'action pour tous les Canadiens français vivant dans la province de l'Ontario; et assurer la liaison entre l'Ontario français, la Fédération des sociétés Saint-Jean-Baptiste de la province de Québec (FSSJBQ) et les organisations semblables ailleurs au Canada.
