CONT

Yeast cells were found to develop metabolically active and dense colonies on the surface of cotton flannel. The resulting yeast film efficiently produced ethanol from carbohydrates in the extract of Jerusalem artichoke tubers. A film fermentor suitable for scale up has been constructed and its performance is being examined under various modes of operation.

CONT
