Au championnat de la PGA de 1961, Don January avait enregistré un total de 277 coups pour les 72 trous réglementaires quand Barber a effectué une remontée sensationnelle sur les derniers trous. Il a calé des roulés entre 30 et 50 pieds sur les trois derniers trous pour égaler la performance de January et provoquer une tournée éliminatoire, le lendemain.
