Procédé visant à donner un fini rugueux aux pierres pour les rendre moins glissantes (il s'agissait dans ce cas-ci de marches d'escalier) ou à des fins esthétiques. On passe un chalumeau sur leur surface, ce qui les fait éclater. Renseignement obtenu de la compagnie Arco (centre de maçonnerie). Équivalent proposé sur le modèle de «flame treatment» : «exposition à la flamme», relevés dans un dictionnaire technique général.
