L'Indonésie importe du blé vitreux et du blé tendre pour produire des nouilles et du pain. L'Australie fournit du blé vitreux et du blé tendre blancs. Les importations en provenance des États-Unis sont constituées de blé vitreux roux et de blé tendre blanc. Le Canada exporte principalement du blé roux de printemps de l'Ouest canadien de haute qualité, bien que l'Indonésie ait acheté de petites quantités de blé dur depuis 1991-1992. Bogasari a récemment installé du matériel de meunerie pour blé dur et le Canada est semble-t-il le seul fournisseur de blé dur à l'Indonésie. Contrairement à la farine, la plupart des pâtes et des produits dérivés sont exportés, environ 10 p. 100 étant destinés au marché intérieur.
