On emploie l'expression "intérêts en exploitation à l'étranger" lorsqu'une Maison-mère a des intérêts économiques à l'étranger. Par exemple, une société américaine a des succursales au Canada, elle appellera ces succursales canadiennes des "foreign operating interests". La notion dont il s'agit n'est valable qu'au pluriel.
