L'exploitation de la forêt par petites parcelles disséminées dans le massif, et la gestion en taillis sous futaie, évitent les modifications brutales de l'ambiance forestière. Les caractéristiques de l'ambiance forestière sont parfois élargies au domaine sensoriel : l'ambiance visuelle, sonore, olfactive de la forêt est pour le promeneur l'expression même de la vie. Elle constitue un cadre extrêmement propice à la détente, à la connaissance de la nature, à l'équilibre de l'homme.
