A specially dedicated Aboriginal Issues Branch at CSC's National Headquarters aims to enhance the rights and correctional experience of Aboriginal persons (staff and offenders) under the jurisdiction of the Service. A Framework on the Enhanced Role of Aboriginal Communities in Corrections was endorsed in April 1999. This Framework seeks to support the reintegration of Aboriginal offenders through increased participation of Aboriginal communities.

Une Direction générale consacrée spécialement aux questions autochtones et située à l'administration centrale du SCC est chargée de valoriser les droits et le quotidien des Autochtones (employés et contrevenants) relevant du Service. Un cadre sur la participation accrue des collectivités autochtones aux services correctionnels a été approuvée en avril 1999. Il vise à soutenir la réintégration des contrevenants autochtones grâce à une participation accrue des collectivités autochtones.
