Les industriels du secteur, jusque là divisés, s'unissent pour former un syndicat capable de défendre leurs intérêts communs dans une période difficile. De cette chambre syndicale, naît, le 1er octobre 1963, l'actuelle FIF, une Fédération qui rassemble toutes les forces vives du secteur industriel ferroviaire et qui a pour missions l'étude, la défense et la promotion en France, en Europe et dans le monde, des intérêts économiques, industriels et commerciaux de l'industrie ferroviaire française.
