L'enduit riche en zinc Galvafroid est un enduit anti-corrosion applicable au pinceau ou au pistolet contenant de 92 à 95 % de zinc en pellicule sèche et qui procure une protection électrochimique aux métaux ferreux. [...] Les traitements au Galvafroid des métaux ferreux et de l'acier basent leur efficacité anti-corrosive sur l'action galvanique qui survient, sous conditions corrosives, entre le zinc et le substrat. Ce dernier est protégé même au niveau des égratignures et des points d'abrasion, puisque le zinc entourant le dommage se réactive immédiatement et sa corrosion sacrificielle protège la surface sous-jacente. Les produits de corrosion du zinc, qui sont en grande partie insolubles et imperméables, se forment rapidement afin de sceller le dommage et protéger le substrat.
