English

Subject field(s)
  • Metrology and Units of Measure
  • Mine Ventilation, Heating and Lighting
CONT

Mine roadways offer resistance to air flow due mainly by surface drag between air and roadway sides (...) Energy losses are directly proportional to the cube of the air quantity flowing. A simpler pressure difference relationship is used which is derived from basic fluid flow principles and which can be related to Atkinson's equation. In this case P = RQ [squared] where P is the frictional pressure difference across a length of roadway in pascals: R is the roadway resistance in Gauls (...); and Q the air-flow rate in [cub metre] / s. Roadway resistances are expressed in Gauls per 100 m of airway (...)

OBS
