Le but du projet est de développer une technologie de restauration des sites miniers à caractère acide à l'aide de résidus de désencrage. Une cellule de démonstration de 1,6 hectare a été construite sur l'ancien site minier Eustis. La cellule est recouverte de résidus de chaux, de résidus de désencrage et de compost. Les résidus de désencrage servent de barrière capillaire pour bloquer le passage de l'oxygène vers les résidus et stopper le processus de génération d'acides. Ce projet est couplé à un projet de recherche d'une durée potentielle de trois ans portant sur l'utilisation des résidus de désencrage comme matériaux géotechniques.
