La conception du séparateur Readings (ancien séparateur Gill) est très différente : C'est une couronne équipée de plaques dentées radiales tournant devant deux, quatre ou huit paires de pôles d'électroaimants. Cette disposition permet d'alléger le rotor qui n'est plus utilisé pour la fermeture du champ magnétique. Le séparateur comporte une alimentation en pulpe par paire d'électroaimants. L'appareil à huit paires de pôles possède un rotor de 1650 mm de diamètre et a une capacité comprise entre 15 et 40 t/h.
