Great Lakes 2000 (GL 2000) was announced in April 1994. It is a seven-year program, administered by Environment Canada, which represents the second phase of the Great Lakes Action Plan (GLAP), which ended in March 1994. Great Lakes 2000 renews government commitment and actions until the year 2001 to restore, protect and sustain the Great Lakes.
