The term "hazardous waste" has been defined by CCREM [Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment] as "those wastes which due to their nature and quantity are potentially hazardous to human health and or the environment and require special disposal techniques to eliminate or reduce the hazard."

OBS

Waste is considered to be an uncountable noun. However, it is often found in the plural form (wastes), particularly when speaking of different types of waste.
