La remise à zéro (reset) [du compteur électromécanique] s'effectue à la suite d'un signal d'entrée de nature mécanique ou électrique. Dans le premier cas, la remise à zéro se fait par bouton-poussoir (pushbutton). Un accouplement mécanique pousse l'axe, et dégage ainsi les pignons des rouleaux. Un bras appuie sur les cames en cœur (heart cams) entre les rouleaux et entraîne ainsi la rotation de ces derniers.
