Inscription found on grade stamps used to identify a number of Canadian timber species manufactured and marketed together. These species have similar performance properties which make them interchangeable in use.

OBS

Designation "North" or "N" in the grade mark provides regional identification for lumber exported to United States.

OBS

Selon M. Stéphane Nadeau, de l'Association des manufacturiers de bois de sciage du Québec, «Hem-Fir (N)» prévaut sur le plan du commerce en anglais et en français en raison de l'estampe qui identifie ces espèces. Cependant on a recours de plus en plus à «Pruche-Sapin (N)» dans la documentation commerciale française et canadienne.
