Érosion provoquée par la glace en mouvement qui s'écoule de l'amont vers l'aval et qui creuse profondément le relief préglaciaire sur lequel elle se déplace.

OBS

La désagrégation des roches sur les bords du glacier est surtout due au gel; les débris provenant de cette fragmentation sont entraînés par le mouvement du glacier et ce déblaiement latéral, en empêchant la constitution d'un talus d'éboulis protecteur, favorise l'érosion des versants.
