En France, en 2009, la Haute Autorité de santé (HAS) a émis la recommandation suivante : «Compte tenu de la situation épidémiologique actuelle, il est recommandé qu'une sérologie rubéoleuse soit proposée à l'occasion de la première consultation prénatale, en l'absence de preuve écrite de l'immunité et sauf si deux vaccinations contre la rubéole documentées ont été antérieurement réalisées, à seule fin de déterminer le statut immunitaire vis-à-vis de la rubéole».
