Fusion de roches causée lors d'un impact, incluant les petites particules dispersées par l'impact lui même et les débris des divers objets ayant été en collision.

Il existe cependant une texture propre à plusieurs impacts : les couronnes réactionnelles autour du quartz. Ces couronnes semblent indiquer que le quartz est le minéral résistant le mieux à la fusion induite par un impact.

OBS

Les roches ayant fusionné lors d'un impact sont très uniformes dans leur composition mais très variables dans leur texture. Elles sont essentiellement composées de la roche cible, mais contiennent une quantité mesurable d'élément provenant de l'objet ayant causé l'impact.
