In Canada, injury remains the leading cause of death and disability for First Nations children living on or off reserve and for Inuit children. As a result, a number of activities have been undertaken to reduce the incidence and seriousness of the injuries. The Indian and Inuit Childhood Injury Prevention Program - which is also part of the Child Development Initiative (or Brighter futures) - encourages the development of community action projects likely to reduce the number of injuries in Native communities. 1, record 1, English, - Indian%20and%20Inuit%20Childhood%20Injury%20Prevention%20Program
