Critical facilities such as data processing rooms, telecommunications switching facilities, process control rooms, and others, require a non-water based extinguishing agent that: Is electrically nonconductive [;] Is safe for use in human occupied facilities[;] Would not damage sensitive electronic equipment[;] Has zero ozone depletion, zero global warming, and zero atmospheric lifetime ...

[...] les mélanges de gaz inertes dont l'innocuité et l'efficacité ont été prouvées : l'INERGEN (mélanges d'azote, d'argon et de dioxyde de carbone) ou l'ARGONITE (mélange d'azote et d'argon) [sont] utilisés en installation fixe dans des espaces occupés, quand l'utilisation d'un gaz est souhaitée et que le stockage d'un volume important est possible. L'émission de ces gaz ne doit pas abaisser la concentration d'oxygène à moins de 12% en volume; dans ce cas l'exposition des personnes doit être évitée dans toute la mesure du possible - soit par une évacuation préalable - soit par le port d'un équipement (type adduction d'air par exemple) pour les personnes appelées à intervenir, notamment pour porter secours.
