Peine criminelle politique qui a un effet moral, soumettant le condamné à la réprobation publique, et qui entraîne de plein droit certaines déchéances (bannissement, déchéance des droits électoraux, etc.) par opposition à la peine afflictive qui est une peine corporelle et physique qui frappe directement la personne du condamné.

OBS

Selon le droit pénal français, les travaux forcés sont une peine afflictive et infamante. Alors que la dégradation civique est une peine infamante, mais non afflictive.
