[...] l’oncologie intégrative est à la fois une science et une philosophie axée sur la santé complexe des patients atteints de cancer qui leur propose de nombreuses méthodes complémentaires aux traitements classiques (radiothérapie, chimiothérapie, chirurgie et thérapies moléculaires). Parmi les traitements complémentaires, citons les thérapies corps-esprit («mind-body therapies»), soit l’hypnose, la méditation, la musicothérapie, le yoga ou d’autres thérapies, telles que les massages, l’activité physique et l’acupuncture.

La terminologie «intégrative» est utilisée pour désigner le recours simultané à la médecine conventionnelle et aux médecines alternatives (non conventionnelles) dans le suivi d'un patient.
