Avant de pénétrer dans la turbine basse-pression, la vapeur doit traverser des vannes d'interception. Tout comme la vanne d'arrêt d'urgence, ces vannes permettent, en cas d'urgence, d'isoler la turbine basse-pression. En condition normale, la vapeur franchit la vanne d'interception ouverte, s'écoule dans la turbine basse-pression d'où elle ressort pour passer au condenseur.
