Radical de transition qui apparaît après fragmentation, pendant une fraction de seconde, au cours d'une réaction chimique.

CONT

Le radical hydroxyle peut réagir de deux manières sur les alcènes soit par transfert d'hydrogène (comme les alcanes), soit par addition sur la double liaison. Les radicaux obtenus réagissent sur l'oxygène et le monoxyde d'azote selon les mêmes principes et l'on obtient soit un composé carbonylé insaturé soit plutôt, après fragmentation du radical intermédiaire, deux composés carbonylés plus simples.
