On 5 November 2001, the General Assembly declared 6 November of each year as the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict (resolution 56/4). El 5 de noviembre de 2001, la Asamblea General declaró el Día Internacional para la Prevención de la Explotación del Medio Ambiente en la Guerra y los Conflictos Armados, el cual se celebrará el 6 de noviembre de cada año (resolución 56/4).
