The International Model Forest Network (IMFN) is a voluntary association of partners from around the world working toward the common goal of sustainable forest management and use. The IMFN is based on an innovative approach that combines the social, cultural and economic needs of local communities with the long-term sustainability of forest landscapes. Our three key objectives are: to foster international cooperation and exchange of ideas relating to the working concept of sustainable forest management ; to support international cooperation in critical aspects of forest science and social science that underlie the search for new models of forest management; to support ongoing international discussions on the criteria and principles of sustainable development.

Le Réseau international de forêts modèles (RIFM) est une association volontaire de partenaires qui proviennent de partout dans le monde et qui concourent à la gestion et à l'utilisation durables des forêts. Les trois objectifs clé du Réseau international consistent à : stimuler la coopération internationale et l'échange d'idées sur le concept de gestion durable des forêts; appuyer la coopération internationale dans des domaines cruciaux des sciences forestières et des sciences sociales qui sous-tendent la recherche de nouveaux modèles de gestion des forêts; soutenir les discussions internationales en cours sur les critères et les principes du développement durable.
