(...) le locicon tient, entre autres, des gènes codant pour quatre polypeptides dont Hale et al. ont démontré qu'ils étaient particulièrement immunogènes puisque reconnus par les sérums d'enfants ou de singes convalescents de shigellose (27). Ces polypeptides sont maintenant appelés IpaA (78 kDa), IpaB (62 kDa, IpaC (43 kDa) et IpaD (38 kDa). L'organisation génétique de ce locus a été étudiée par plusieurs groupes.
