The Investigation Level is the thyroid burden at which a review of handling procedures should be initiated. The committed dose to the thyroid from this burden, if it results from a single uptake of radioiodine, is approximately 1/20 th of the annual permissible dose allowed under schedule II of the AEC Regulations.
